see links at bottom
Cholesterol is a natural fatty substance present in everybody's blood,
but in excess, can contribute to coronary heart disease. As time goes
by cholesterol can result in fatty deposits building up on the artery
walls. This can ultimately causes them to narrow (atherosclerosis)
and sometimes block preventing blood flow. When important organs,
such as the heart and brain, are affected because of a reduced blood
supply, repercussions can be serious and even life threatening.
